Property Category

The Property Category widget in the Zozonest plugin is a taxonomy-based tool designed to create “entry points” for your users. Instead of showing houses, it shows the types of properties available (e.g., Villas, Apartments, Offices), often using icons or background images to make the navigation visually appealing.

1. Content & Source Settings

These options define which categories are pulled and how they are displayed:

  • Select Taxonomy: Choose which classification to show. While usually set to Property Category, you can sometimes switch this to Property Status (For Rent/For Sale) or Property Features.

  • Categories to Show: You can choose to show “All” categories or manually select specific ones (e.g., only show “Residential” categories and hide “Commercial”).

  • Hide Empty: A toggle to hide categories that currently have zero active listings, preventing users from clicking into empty pages.

  • Show Count: Enable a small numerical badge (e.g., “Apartments (15)“) that tells users how many properties are in that category.

2. Layout & Design Style

This widget usually offers several “Skins” to change the visual format:

  • Grid vs. List: Display categories in a standard grid of boxes or a simple vertical list.

  • Icon Mode: Displays the category name alongside a specific icon (SVG or FontAwesome) assigned in the WordPress backend.

  • Image/Banner Mode: Uses the “Category Image” (uploaded in the Zozonest settings) as a background for each box, creating a “Card” look.

  • Columns: Define how many category boxes appear per row (usually 2 to 6).

3. Query & Ordering

Control the sequence of the categories:

  • Order By: Sort the categories by Name (Alphabetical), ID, or Count (showing the most popular categories first).

  • Order: Set to ASC (A-Z) or DESC (Z-A).

  • Limit: Restrict the number of categories shown (e.g., “Show only the top 4 categories”).

4. Style & Typography (Elementor Tab)

Customize the aesthetic to match your brand:

  • Typography: Change the font, size, and weight of the Category Title and the Property Count number.

  • Color Overlay: If using background images, you can apply a color overlay (e.g., a semi-transparent black) to ensure the white text is readable.

  • Border & Hover Effects: Add rounded corners (border-radius) or a “Zoom” effect that triggers when a user hovers over the category box.

  • Icon Styling: Adjust the color, size, and background padding of the category icons.
