In the Zozonest plugin, the Property Country widget is the highest-level geographic navigation tool. It is specifically designed for international real estate portals or multi-national agencies to allow users to begin their search at the global level.

This widget functions as the “Parent” in the location hierarchy: Country → State → City → Neighborhood.

1. Content & Selection Settings

  • Select Countries: Choose to display every country available in your database or manually select specific “Featured Countries” (e.g., only show Spain, USA, and UAE).

  • Hide Empty Countries: A critical setting that prevents countries with zero active listings from appearing in the grid, ensuring a smooth user journey without “dead ends.”

  • Show Listing Count: Displays a numerical indicator showing how many properties are available in that country (e.g., “Portugal (85)”).

  • Country Icons/Flags: Many skins allow you to automatically display the country’s national flag alongside its name.

2. Visual Layout (Skins)

The widget transforms simple text links into attractive, clickable cards:

  • Image Card Layout: The most common design, using a “Featured Image” (like a famous landmark or aerial shot of the country) as a background for the country box.

  • Flag-Centric View: A more minimalist style focusing on the flag icon and the country name.

  • Columns: Control the grid structure by choosing how many countries appear per row (usually 2 to 4).

  • Gutter Spacing: Adjust the pixel-based gap between the country cards.

3. Query & Navigation

  • Order By: Sort the countries alphabetically (Name), by ID, or by Count (to prioritize countries where you have the most listings).

  • Order Direction: Choose ASC (A-Z) or DESC (Z-A).

  • Link Behavior: Clicking a country box sends the user to a filtered archive page that displays every listing within that country.

4. Style & Hover Effects (Elementor)

  • Overlay & Tint: Apply a semi-transparent color overlay over the country images to ensure that the text (usually white) remains readable regardless of the background photo.

  • Typography: Customize the font, size, and weight for both the Country Name and the Listing Count.

  • Hover Interaction: Add a “Zoom-in” or “Opacity Shift” effect that triggers when a user hovers over a country card, making the site feel more interactive.

  • Border Radius: Add rounded corners to the cards to match the modern, “App-like” feel of the rest of the Zozonest interface.
