Property State

In the Zozonest plugin, the Property State widget is a location-based navigation tool. It allows you to display specific regions, provinces, or states (e.g., California, Florida, Bavaria) as interactive entry points for your users.

This is a “high-level” location widget, sitting just below the Country level but above City level in the geographic hierarchy.

1. Content & Source Settings

  • Select States: You can choose to display all states in your database or manually hand-pick specific “Featured States” (e.g., only your top-performing markets).

  • Hide Empty States: A very helpful toggle that prevents a state from showing if it currently has no properties assigned to it. This prevents “Dead Ends” in the user journey.

  • Show Listing Count: Displays a small number next to the state name (e.g., “Texas (42)”). This provides social proof and helps users understand where your inventory is concentrated.

  • Hierarchy Support: If a property is assigned to a “City” that is a child of a “State,” Zozonest automatically attributes that listing to this widget.

2. Visual Layout (Skins)

The widget often mimics the style of the “Property Category” widget but for locations:

  • Grid Card: Each state is displayed as a large box.

  • Image Background: Uses the “State Image” uploaded in the Zozonest backend as a background for the box, often with the state name centered or at the bottom.

  • Iconic Mode: Displays a specific icon (like a map pin or a state flag) instead of an image.

  • Columns: Choose how many states to show per row (usually 2, 3, or 4).

3. Query & Ordering

  • Order By: Sort your states alphabetically (Name), by ID, or by Count (showing the states with the most properties first).

  • Link Behavior: Clicking the state box sends the user to a filtered archive page showing every property within that entire state.

4. Style & Typography (Elementor)

  • Overlay Color: Add a semi-transparent color over the state images to make the white text “pop” and remain readable regardless of the photo used.

  • Hover Animation: Add a “Zoom-in” or “Overlay Tint Change” effect when a user moves their mouse over a state box.

  • Typography: Style the state name and the “Listing Count” number (fonts, size, and weight).

  • Border Radius: Give the state boxes rounded corners for a modern, mobile-app aesthetic.

💡 Pro Tip: The Hierarchy

For a professional experience, use these widgets in a “Drill Down” sequence on your site:

  1. Homepage: Show the Property State widget (Top regions).

  2. State Archive Page: Show the Property City widget (Specific cities in that state).

  3. City Archive Page: Show the Property List widget (Actual houses).
