1. Standard Search Layout

The Standard Layout is the classic real estate interface, focusing on clean grids or lists of properties.

• Design: Features a search bar (usually at the top or in a sidebar) with property results displayed in a grid or list format below.

• Best For: Portals with high-density information where the user wants to see technical details (price, beds, baths) immediately without map distractions.

• Key Feature: Fast loading and highly readable, making it ideal for mobile users on slower connections.

2. Half Map Search Layout

The Half Map is currently the most popular “modern” layout for real estate websites (pioneered by sites like Airbnb and Houzez).

• Design: A split-screen interface where an interactive map occupies one half (usually the left or right) and the property listings occupy the other.

• User Experience: As the user scrolls through the list, the map remains fixed and updates its pins. Alternatively, moving the map can refresh the results in the list via AJAX.

• Best For: Urban areas where the exact street location is as important as the property itself. It allows for “spatial browsing” where users can see the proximity of a listing to landmarks while reading its details.

3. Full Map Search Layout

The Full Map Layout provides an immersive, geography-first experience.

• Design: The map takes up the entire browser window. Property results are typically shown as “pins” or “price markers” directly on the map.

• Interactivity: Clicking a pin usually triggers a small pop-up (infobox) or a side-sliding panel with the property summary.

• Best For: Vacation rentals, large-scale developments, or users who already know exactly which neighborhood they want to live in. It emphasizes the “where” above all else.
